5kg Straight Bar Load Cell
This sensor is an aluminum cantilever beam. Inside, it uses four strain gauges bonded to the metal in a Wheatstone Bridge configuration. As weight is applied, the aluminum flexes—stretching some gauges and compressing others. This change in resistance creates a tiny voltage difference that represents the weight.

 
Why the 5kg Capacity is Essential:
• Heavy-Duty Versatility: While 1kg or 3kg cells are great for small items, the 5kg capacity allows you to build scales for larger parcels, heavy kitchen containers, or small pets without the risk of "bottoming out" the sensor.

Technical Capabilities:
• Full-Scale Output: Typically 1.0 ± 0.15 mV/V. This means that at a 5V supply, the difference between "zero" and "5kg" is only about 5 millivolts.
• High Linearity: The sensor is designed so that every gram adds the same amount of voltage, ensuring that your scale is just as accurate at 4.5kg as it is at 500g.
• Aviation Grade Aluminum: The alloy is designed for low "hysteresis," meaning the sensor returns to zero quickly and accurately once the weight is removed.

 
Installation & Mechanical Setup:
To get professional-grade results, you must mount the load cell correctly:
1. The Cantilever Mount: * One end must be bolted to a fixed base.
o The other end must be bolted to the weighing platform.
o Use spacers (usually included or made from washers) to ensure the bar has room to bend without touching the base or the platform in the middle.
2. Orientation: Look for an arrow on the side of the cell. This arrow must point downward, indicating the direction of the gravity/force.
3. Cable Management: The four colored wires are very thin. Ensure they are secured to the fixed base so that moving the scale doesn't tug on the internal connections, which would cause "weight drift."
