5 Channel IR Infrared CTRT5000 Line Detection Module
The module uses five TCRT5000 sensors. Each sensor contains an IR emitting diode and an IR phototransistor. Because black surfaces absorb infrared light and white surfaces reflect it, the array can "see" a dark track on a light floor (or vice versa).

 
Why it’s a Robotics Competition Essential:
• Precision Steering: With five data points, your code can calculate the error offset. If only the far-left sensor sees the line, the robot knows it must turn sharply; if only the center sensor sees it, the robot knows to drive straight.
• Schmitt Trigger Stability: The module uses integrated circuitry (often the 74HC14) to "clean" the analog signals. This ensures the output to your Arduino is a sharp, stable Digital HIGH or LOW, preventing "jitter" when the robot is on the edge of a line.
• Onboard Indicators: Each of the five channels has its own status LED. This is invaluable for troubleshooting and calibrating your robot's logic without needing to be connected to a computer.
